Play On

A Free Summer Playwriting Program for 9-12 year olds

Saturdays, July 11-September 12
10:30-11:30am

Final performance on September 12

(no class September 5)

Do you like theater or really dramatic stories? Do you want to write a play - and see it performed by real actors? Then Play On is for you!

This free 7-week summer program will meet at
Queens Public Library in Woodside!

Over the course of the program, you’ll…

  • Learn how to read scripts

  • Explore the building blocks of dramatic storytelling, like dialogue, characters, and plot

  • You'll write your own 5–10 minute play

  • Have a one-on-one session with your playwriting teacher

  • And here's the really exciting part: your script will be rehearsed by a director and a group of real actors, and performed as a staged reading at the library

You write it. They perform it!

Class size is limited to 10 writers. Writers are expected to attend every week but accommodations can be made with prior approval. So register today, and Play On!

“A great experience that really felt like something out of college - an experience that you don’t find anywhere else. I wish more things like this would be offered.”
